Ridley
Scott may be working on a series regarding the kidnapping of John Paul Getty II
with a starry ensemble on All the Money
in the World, but it’s hard not to get excited about a series covering the
same events on FX from Danny Boyle (Steve
Jobs, Slumdog Millionaire). The series, titled Trust, was announced fairly recently and now we have our fast
casting announcement. According to The
Tracking Board, Donald Sutherland will join the cast as J. Paul Getty.
Trust will be a 10-episode series that
focuses on the kidnapping and ransom of Getty’s grandson, Getty III, but
believe it’s a hoax and refuse to investigate. The show will also reveal the
strained relationships within the family as Getty refuses to pay while Getty
III’s mother and wife dedicate themselves to solving the crime. I think
Sutherland is a great choice for the role as the wealthy oil tycoon. We haven’t
seen him in much other than The Hunger
Games franchise for quite some time so I’m excited to see what he can bring
to the role.
Sutherland
has won two Golden Globes and an Emmy for his work on TV for Path to War and Citizen X. He’ll be seen next in The Leisure Seeker alongside Helen Mirren as well as Basmati Blues starring Brie Larson. What
do you guys think about the upcoming FX series, Trust? Who would you like to see join the cast? Comment below and
have your voice heard!
