In an
interesting piece of news, it seems that there will be another attempt at a new
version of the classic 60s TV series, The
Green Hornet. According to Deadline,
Gavin O’Connor (Warrior, The Accountant)
is set to direct a modern feature film remake of the property.
I
know what plenty of people are thinking, didn’t we just see this? The answer is
yes, as it was only five years ago that the horrific movie version of the TV
series that starred Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz and Christoph Waltz was
released. That was one of the worst films I’ve seen in theaters by far but I’m
hopeful that O’Connor coming on will bring a different kind of film then that
of the one directed by Michel Gondry. Yes, it’s scary that the same person that
helmed Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless
Mind brought us a movie like 2011’s The
Green Hornet.
O’Connor
has said that this is a property that he’s always wanted to helm since becoming
a filmmaker so I believe in his passion to make a great movie out of this
property. Though I haven’t seen The
Accountant yet, I absolutely love Warrior
and believe that he can do a good job overall with this potential
franchise.
