Here’s
a trailer that we’ve been anticipating for a long time at Cinema Wave, Luc
Besson’s upcoming sci-fi epic, Valerian
and the City of a Thousand Planets. The Fifth
Element director has been talking about this project for a long time and
now we finally have our first glance at the film.
Based
on the French graphic novel, Valerian and
Laureline, Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan star as special operatives for
the government of the human territories charged with maintaining order
throughout the universe. The trailer has a very strong Guardians of the Galaxy
vibe and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. The Beatles “Because”
blares in the background of the intense sci-fi imagery and it is at least a
good way to market the movie for fans of the same formula. As far as what we
see in the teaser, we don’t get much in terms of story but the visual effects
look great.
Check
out the first trailer below for Valerian
and the City of a Thousand Planets! The film also stars Clive Owen,
Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman and Herbie Hancock. Valerian opens everywhere on July 21st, 2017.
