Kirsten
Dunst’s directorial debut The Bell Jar
has been talked about a lot here at Cinema Wave as it seems like she keeps
adding boatloads of talent to the feature but with the starring roles in place
with Dakota Fanning and Jesse Plemons respectively, Dunst must find a
supporting cast that will help bring the movie together and it seems like she’s
done just that. According to The
Playlist, Patricia Arquette, Bel Powley and Stacy Martin have joined the
cast.
The Bell Jar showcases the life of
Esther Greenwod, a brilliant, talented and successful woman who has somewhat of
a downward spiral mentally. The film is based on the novel of the same name
that was written by Sylvia Path in 1963. I’m so excited for this movie and I
was before the announcement of these fine actresses joining the cast.
Patricia
Arquette who just a couple of years ago won Best Supporting Actress at the
Academy Awards for her role in Richard Linklater’s Boyhood is always a welcome addition and Bel Powley stunned
audiences with her performance in The
Diary Of a Teenage Girl, which not only put her on the map for years to
come, but also, director Marielle Heller who is set to do some great projects
in the future. Stacy Martin, though I don’t know much about her was pretty
great in the Lars Von Trier film series Nymphomaniac
and was also in the most recent Ben Wheatley movie, High-Rise.
Arquette
is set to be in the upcoming sci-fi flick High
Life along with Robert Pattinson and she also has a voice role in the next
installment within the Pixar series, Toy
Story 4. Powley is consistently working on indie films to boost up her
resume. She’s set to star alongside Ed Helms and Jack Huston in the drama, Stand By which is directed by Birdman
co-writer, Armando Bo. Also, she just filmed some other indie dramas Ashes in the Snow and A Storm in the Stars in which she stars alongside Dakota’s
sister, Elle Fanning.
