Ewan McGregor's Directorial debut 'American Pastoral' Gets a Trailer
By Darian Scalamoni |
Ewan
McGregor has been known to command the screen. Whether it’s singing on stage in
Moulin Rouge, playing the memorable
Obi-Wan Kenobi within the Star Wars
prequels or even in his brilliant performance in the indie hit Beginners, he’s able to get the
attention of anyone watching. Now, he is trying his own turn as a director.
The
trailer is cut brilliantly as it tells so much with very minimal dialogue
throughout. American Pastoral is
based on Philip Roth’s 1997 Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the same name and
it will be McGregor’s directorial debut. The movie follows Merry (Dakota
Fanning) as Seymour and Dawn Levov’s (McGregor and Jennifer Connelly) daughter
who tears the family apart after she commits a violent act of political
terrorism.
After
seeing the trailer for this film, it has skyrocketed to the top of my most
anticipated for the remainder of the year, especially due to McGregor’s
involvement. He has become one of my favorite actors of all-time for his
performances of the past and I’m looking forward to checking out his
directorial debut.
PLEASE check out the trailer below.
