Ever since last year’s
release of the surprise hit Straight
Outta Compton that chronicled the life of the rap super group known as NWA,
there has been tons of music biopics in the works. One of the most interesting
films that began development following the success of Straight Outta Compton was a biopic based on the life and career of
rap legend, Tupac Shakur. The movie is titled All Eyez on Me and we have the first teaser trailer here for you.
Tupac
Shakur was one of the most influential and important rap artists of all time so
it was only a matter of time before he received his own feature film. Shakur
follows the same model that the NWA movie followed as well as the late, great Notorious
B.I.G when he received the biopic, Notorious
back in 2009. Jamaal Woolard who played B.I.G in the film will reprise his role
in this movie as well. Newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr. is set to play Tupac, while
Danai Gurira known for playing Michonne on the super successful TV show, The Walking Dead will play Shakur’s
mother.
This
project had been in development for years originally with John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood, Four Brothers) attached to direct. The movie will be directed by
first time feature director, Benny Boom, who is best known for directing music
videos. The movie will be released on November 11th of this year. Watch
the trailer below!
