Steven Spielberg is a busy guy naturally, I mean he’s
directed some of the most classic pieces of cinema ever. His filmography
sparkles with films of all genres, colors and subjects including; Saving Private Ryan, Schindler’s List, Catch Me If You Can, A.I.
Artificial Intelligence, Jaws and
of course, all of the Indiana Jones
films. That is just naming a few. Deadline
now reports that his next feature that has been added to his slate will follow
legendary newscaster, Walter Cronkite.
The
movie that is untitled as of now will reunite Spielberg with Bridge of Spies collaborators, Matt
Charman and Marc Platt. This isn’t expected to be a normal biopic though as it
will cover Cronkite’s relationship with the Vietnam War. He is known to have had
a great impact and turned public opinion on the controversial conflict of the
war.
Though
this project seems like an exciting one especially due to Spielberg’s success
with historical dramas in the past, this movie is ways away. Currently on his
slate, he also has The BFG which will
be released in theaters on July 1st. Along with that, he has two
films in pre-production. One of them being the highly anticipated, Ready Player One and then he will direct
The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara
that stars Oscar-winner, Mark Rylance. Also, you can’t forget Indiana Jones 5 that is expected to be
released in 2019.
It’s
amazing to see Spielberg still be a consistent filmmaker at the latter part of
his career. Whatever else he adds to his slate going forward, you know I’ll be
first in line to see it.
