Tom
Hanks and Clint Eastwood making a movie together? It’s a match made in heaven,
even more so, when the project they’re working together on is based on true
events. Today, the trailer for Sully
dropped which is based on the true story of Chelsey “Sully” Sullenberger
landing a disabled plane on the waters of the Hudson, saving the lives of all
155 people onboard. It was deemed by many as “The Miracle on the Hudson”. The
movie not only features the landing, but also what happened after, an
investigation into the event that almost destroyed Sully’s career as a pilot.
The
film looks to do more than just show the events of what happened back in 2009,
but also goes more into the study of the man who was able to orchestrate the
landing. He was given insane media coverage after the landing and had newfound
and unwanted fame which led to accusations surrounding him. Clint Eastwood’s
last film American Sniper was a
fantastic film that was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards in
2015. Tom Hanks was last seen in a movie that was also nominated for Best
Picture but this was at the Academy Awards ceremony this year, titled Bridge of Spies directed by Steven
Spielberg.
Watch
the first trailer for Sully below.
The movie will be released on September 9th and also stars Aaron
Eckhart and Laura Linney.
