Though it was Spotlight that won Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards, The Big Short was a fantastic film that was one of the favorites to take home the award as well. The financial dramedy starring Steve Carell, Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt was obviously stacked cast wise but the direction from Adam McKay (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Step Brothers) and style of the film was a big reason it was so well done.

Deadline is reporting that McKay’s next project will also be a drama though he’s known for more comedic movies and team ups with Will Ferrell. The movie is set to star Oscar-winning actress, Jennifer Lawrence and it will follow the medical company Theranos and its 32-year-old founder Elizabeth Holmes. Theranos is a blood-testing company that once had Silicon Valley having its commercial value at $9 billion. The company though had significant problems and now may be banned from practicing for two years for failing to resolve the problems at its main California lab.

McKay did such an outstanding job with the financial crisis at hand for The Big Short that he seems like a perfect fit to tackle a rise and fall story of Theranos. Jennifer Lawrence is also one of the best leading ladies around and has success playing real people as she was nominated for playing a real person in Joy last year.

Lawrence is highly in demand recently as she has tons of movies on her slate. She can be seen currently in theaters in X-Men: Apocalypse, but also has Morten Tyldum’s Passengers alongside Chris Pratt in December. She’s also set to star in Darren Aronofsky’s next film with Javier Bardem.
