Sacha Baron Cohen is mostly known for his outrageous
personalities and characters such as Borat, Bruno or Ali G; but he’s also a
tremendous actor not only because of those characters but he’s also able to
play these fantastic supporting roles. According to Deadline,
it seems that Cohen is circling a feature adaptation of the Mandrake the Magician comic strip. It is
in early talks at Warner Bros. and Etan Cohen (Get Hard) who wrote Tropic
Thunder, is in talks to direct.
Though
there aren’t many details out just yet, any potential project with Sacha Baron
Cohen is intriguing. Cohen was supposed to play Freddie Mercury in the untitled
Queen movie that is due out in a few years but dropped out due to creative
differences with the rest of the living members of the band. Mandrake was a syndicated newspaper
comic strip that was published in 1934. The comic strip centered on an
illusionist who used his powers to defeat back guys.
Cohen
could be seen currently in theaters as the villain in Alice Through the Looking Glass. Once more details are revealed
about this project, you’ll be informed right here on Cinema Wave!
