Whether it be with her music or now, her acting
career, Lady Gaga never seems to disappoint. Per Variety,
it seems that she is moving from TV to Film as she is being courted to play the
lead in Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut, A
Star is Born. It has been previously reported that Cooper had wanted Gaga
for the part for over a month now.
Cooper
had been meeting with multiple actresses for the role in the remake of the 1937
film starring Janet Gaynor; including Beyoncé who had to drop out due to
scheduling conflicts with her latest tour. This will be the third time that A Star is Born has been remade as the
last effort starred Barbra Streisand. Cooper has been interested in directing
for a while but really decided it was something he wanted to try after his
Oscar-nominated turn as Chris Kyle in American
Sniper. Clint Eastwood, who directed Sniper,
was supposed to direct this film, but he then left the project which equaled an
opening for the actor who was actively seeking the right project to direct.
Lady
Gaga got her first big break acting in this past season of the FX series, American Horror Story, for which she won
a Golden Globe for her performance. With Gaga attached, the studio is expected
to start production on the movie in February 2017.
