With females being in the
forefront of media right now with young actresses like Brie Larson and Jennifer
Lawrence leading blockbuster films, along with Ghostbusters on its way, it is no surprise that one of the best
actresses of all time, Cate Blanchett would sign onto yet another franchise.
According to The
Playlist, Blanchett is in talks to join all-female Ocean’s Eleven movie
.
If
Blanchett joins the film directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Seabiscuit) she will be alongside Sandra Bullock
and Jennifer Lawrence. We had previously reported on Lawrence’s involvement here.
Blanchett currently has a lot on her plate as she is about to start shooting Thor: Ragnarok as well as do voice work
for How to Train Your Dragon 3. Along
with those projects, she also is in Terrence Malick’s (The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life) upcoming project, Weightless which is in post-production.
She’s also involved in a Lucille Ball biopic which was written by Aaron Sorkin
(The Social Network, Steve Jobs) and
she’s set to star in Where’d You Go,
Bernadette directed by Richard Linklater (Boyhood, Dazed and Confused).
This
cast is quite a doozy and I have to say I’m happy with the way this project is
developing. Bullock, Blanchett and Lawrence have 4 Academy Awards between the
three of them so this is a star studded assembly of women in Hollywood. The
project is expected to go into production in the fall.
