Ever since Michael Jackson’s death in 2009, people
have wondered when we’d see a version of the King of Pop on screen; well today
we have details on a project involving Star
Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams about Jackson. According
to Collider,
Abrams will produce a television series based on Tavis Smiley’s book, Before You Judge Me: The Triumph and Tragedy
of Michael Jackson’s Last Days. The novel is based on the final days of
Michael Jackson’s life before he passed away at the age of 50 due to cardiac
arrest.
Though
other details are scarce at this point, the potential for this project is
incredibly intriguing. The series is expected to be tragic but also memorable
for adapting such a serious and important subject matter and with Abrams on
board to produce it’s good to know that the novel adaptation is in good hands.
Smiley
is also working with Abrams on an adaptation on his book about Martin Luther
King Jr. As soon as more information is known about the series and castings, we’ll
be sure to inform you.
