It
seems like any day now it will be official that Daniel Craig won’t be returning
as James Bond, this is of course because his vocal persistence against starring
as the legendary character again; and of course, he continues to add future
projects on his plate. Per Deadline,
Craig has signed on to another project about the L.A. Riots titled Kings. The film will also star Halle
Berry.
The
film is described as a “dream project” from director Deniz Gamze Erguven (Mustang). This will be her first English
language feature. The movie will follow Craig as one of the few white residents
of South Central Los Angeles who falls for a mother (Berry) and helps her track
down and protect her kids as the city erupts in chaos surrounding them.
Erguven’s
Mustang was a critical darling last
year so it’s understandable why she’s working with such high level talent so
soon. Craig is next set to be in Steven Soderbergh’s promising next film, Logan Lucky alongside Channing Tatum,
Adam Driver and Hilary Swank and that’s only naming a few of the stars. He’s
also signed on to star in the upcoming Showtime series, Purity for Todd Field based on the novel by Jonathan Franzen.
