Donald Glover to bring Deadpool animated series to FXX

FX is
a network that very much likes to keep their talents in house. They’ve done
this with Ryan Murphy, Louis CK and Noah Hawley in the past and now, it seems
they’re doing the same with the creator and star of the hit comedy series that
debuted last year, Atlanta. Glover
and his brother, Stephen Glover will now try their hand in animation as they’ll
act as showrunners, executive producers and writers of an animated Deadpool series.
The
show will air on the sister network, FXX and has been given a 10-episode first
season order set to debut in 2018. This is now the second Marvel series set up
at the FX networks as Noah Hawley’s Legion
debuted this year to solid results for the network. I’m incredibly excited to
see this come to fruition as Glover is becoming one of the most influential
artists of the new age not only with his work on Atlanta but as a musician with his rap persona, Childish Gambino. Deadpool is an incredibly popular
property right now with the success of Fox’s live-action R-rated film that
starred Ryan Reynolds so many will be tuning into this, I’m sure.
Glover
can be seen next in front of the camera as Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo
Star Wars Anthology film but will also appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 7th. Atlanta Season 2 was delayed because of his current acting duties
but now it appears he’ll be able to make the writing work in time for next year
for Deadpool.
