The
entertainment industry is all about trends. One of the hottest trends in television
right now are revivals of old shows. We now can confirm that in 2018, ABC will
air a revival season of the hit sitcom, Roseanne.
Channing Dungey announced the news yesterday while also releasing the Fall
slate.
Roseanne premiered in 1988 and was applauded
by many for its realistic portrayal of a working-class family. The hit series
was the most-watched show from 1989 to 1990 and stayed on the air through nine
seasons all the way till 1997. The entire final season of the show had a very
interesting story arc that included the death of John Goodman’s character, Dan
and also, the finale which introduced the concept that the show was actually in
Roseanne’s writing so they have some clear obstacles in bringing the series
back on the air.
The
reboot will air an eight-episode season in 2018. The show brings back Roseanne
Barr, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, Michael Fishman and Lecy Goranson
in all of their original roles. How do you guys feel about a Roseanne revival? Were you fans of the
original series? Let us know in the comments!
