Jeremy
Renner, one of the industry’s biggest journeyman whose starred in all different
kinds of films is now taking on an iconic role for himself. According to Screen
Daily, Renner will portray legendary gunslinger, Doc Holliday in an
upcoming film that will be adapted from two novels, Doc and Epitaph: A Novel of
the O.K. Corral written by Mary Doria Russell.
This
is definitely an interesting role for Renner but the actor is on a hot streak
recently with Captain America: Civil War,
Arrival and now, Wind River, the
directorial debut of Taylor Sheridan for which got strong reviews out of
Sundance. Renner will also produce the project under his production company,
The Combine and he joins a long list of actors who have played the role before
him that includes Kirk Douglas, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer and Dennis Quaid just
to name a few. The outlaw had a rather absorbing story that had him as a
dentist who was diagnosed with tuberculosis and given months to live before
heading out West to become a gambler and killer, dying at the age of 36.
Renner
is currently filming the next two Avengers
films returning as Hawkeye. He was also just cast alongside Ed Helms in the
comedy, Tag, so it seems that he won’t
be filming this western biopic anytime soon. What do you guys think of Renner
as Doc Holliday? Do you think the actor can continue his hot streak with a
high-profile job like this? Let us know your opinion in the comment section!
