Anthology
series have become the norm for TV with so many networks adopting the strategy
that has been perfected by FX. Now, TBS, a network that has been killing it
with original content recently with hits like Angie Tribeca and Search
Party will be joining the fray. According to TVLine,
Daniel Radcliffe and Owen Wilson will star in the seven-episode first season of
Miracle Workers.
The “Heaven-set
workplace comedy” will launch on TBS in 2018 as Radcliffe plays Craig, a low-level
angel who is responsible for handling all of humanity’s prayers. Wilson will
play God in the series and Craig most achieve a miracle to prevent Earth’s
destruction. The series sounds interesting and has great talent but I can’t see
how this will work as an anthology series, to be honest. Nevertheless, it’s a
huge get for the network to acquire two actors of Wilson and Radcliffe’s
caliber and I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do with this.
Radcliffe
has only appeared on TV for the UK comedy series, A Young Doctor’s Notebook which he starred with Jon Hamm. This will
be Wilson’s television debut but you can hear him reprise his role as Lightning
McQueen next month in Cars 3 as well
as star in Wonder, based on the
best-selling children’s novel in November.
