The
incredibly underrated sci-fi/action movie, Edge
of Tomorrow that starred Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt is getting a sequel.
The Doug Liman-directed hit came out of nowhere back in 2014 and many have been
clamoring for a sequel and Collider
confirmed it this past weekend.
The
film will be titled Live Die Repeat and
Repeat which should sound familiar to most as the title changed to Live. Die. Repeat. for the home video
release. With the source material being titled All You Need Is Kill, it’s ironic that it’s gone through so many
changes with what it is called in the eyes of fans. Liman also confirmed that
Cruise and Blunt will return for the follow-up but said plans for the film are
more of a “when, rather than an if” at this point.
All
three talents have busy upcoming schedules with Cruise’s latest, The Mummy being released this summer
before he reunites with Liman himself on American
Made, a crime/thriller that is in post-production and set for a September
release date. Blunt is currently filming Mary
Poppins Returns and Liman is attached to direct the DC Comics adaptation, Justice League Dark so all schedules
will have to be clear before Live Die
Repeat and Repeat films. It might be years away, but it sounds like it will
truly be worth the wait.
