It
pains us all here at Cinema Wave to report that Roger Moore, best known for
playing James Bond has passed away at the age of 89 in Switzerland today. Moore’s
family announced the news today on Twitter revealing that he lost his life “after
a short but brave battle with cancer.”
Moore
was best known for playing the third James Bond, the world-famous spy in seven
Bond films that were released from 1973-1985. Moore starred in the most James
Bond films to date thus far including Live
And Let Die, The Spy Who Loved Me and
The Man with the Golden Gun. Though he’s best known for playing 007, he
found his first success on television in shows like The Saint and The Persuaders.
After passing the reins to Timothy Dalton for Bond, he took a hiatus from
acting until 1990. The rest of his acting roles were sporadic until his death
but he did return to the TV reboot of The
Saint which starred Eliza Dushku in 2013.
Moore
was dedicated to his iconic role as Bond but more so, for his charity work for
UNICEF for many, many years. Moore is survived by his wife, Kristina Tholstrup
and his three children, Deborah, Geoffrey and Christian. Our thoughts are with
all of his family during their time of grieving.
