Ryan
Murphy has finally found his George W. According to Deadline,
Dennis Quaid will be cast as President George W. Bush, the 43rd
President of the United States in Katrina:
American Crime Story. The season will be the sophomore campaign for the
Emmy-winning miniseries that airs on FX.
The
series will follow the country’s response to the devastating hurricane that
destroyed parts of the Southeast but especially New Orleans, Louisiana.
President Bush was strongly criticized for the way he handled the catastrophic
aftermath, including a statement for which he praised FEMA Director, Michael D.
Brown by saying “Brownie, you’re doing a heckuva job” while most of the country
disagreed strongly. Quaid is no stranger to portraying a President on screen as
the actor also portrayed President Bill Clinton in the HBO film, The Special Relationship. Though, Josh Brolin
was magnificent as Bush in the Oliver Stone film, W., I believe Quaid will do an admirable job in the FX series.
Quaid
joins the already cast Annette Bening and Matthew Broderick in Katrina. He currently stars in the
Crackle series, The Art of More and
will be seen next in the movie, I Can
Only Imagine.
