One
of the most interesting projects being released this year has to be Battle of the Sexes starring recent
Oscar-winner Emma Stone and Oscar-nominee Steve Carell. Fox Searchlight just
released the official trailer for the comedy that we could see come Oscar time
due to the powerhouse acting talents attached.
Battle of the Sexes is directed by
Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little
Miss Sunshine, Ruby Sparks) and is based around the real-life tennis
showdown from the 1970s between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. Riggs is a
chauvinist, sexist has been who’s looking to get the attention from society so
he engages in a competition with King. This trailer is fantastic and reveals
some awesome details about the film like the way it was shot which looks like
it’s straight out of the 70s. Carell is also perfect for a role like this that
can make someone who can easily be looked at as a hated character look
ridiculous in nature similar to his Michael Scott character from The Office.
Check
out the first trailer below for Battle of
the Sexes! The movie stars Emma Stone, Steve Carell, Sarah Silverman,
Andrea Riseborough, Elisabeth Shue, Alan Cumming and Eric Christian Olsen. Battle of the Sexes hits theaters on
September 22nd.
