It’s
official: Jordan Peele is the hottest name in Hollywood right now. Coming off
of his mega success as writer/director for Get
Out, Peele is not only working on another film but according to Deadline,
he’ll be producing Lovecraft Country
for HBO. He’ll also collaborate with J.J. Abrams production company, Bad Robot
on the series.
Lovecraft Country is based on the 2016
novel from Matt Ruff that focuses on 25-year-old Atticus Black and his search
for his father in 1950s Jim Crow era America. Black is helped by Letitia and his
Uncle George on this journey and struggle to survive and overcome racist
terrors. The network has high hopes that it could become an anthology series
that will give storytelling from the African-American perspective.
Jordan
Peele and his Monkeypaw Productions recently signed first-look deal at
Universal. He then quickly set up another timely thriller based around race for
the studio after turning down Akira
from Warner Bros.
