One
of the actors who is sliding under the radar but might not for much longer is
Andre Holland. Most recently seen in the Best Picture winner, Moonlight, he now
has a lead role in a TV series backed by two of the biggest powerhouses in film
and literature respectively. According to Deadline,
Holland has been cast in the psychological horror series, Castle Rock that will stream on Hulu. The series is produced by
J.J. Abrams and Stephen King.
Castle Rock is set in the Stephen King
multiverse and according to the producers, the series will combine intimate storytelling
and character building with the epic saga of darkness and light. The series
will take place in the fictional town of many King novels, the titular, Castle
Rock. Holland will play Henry, a death row attorney with a complicated history.
Holland his no stranger to television work as he was a co-star on the Cinemax
series, The Knick as Dr. Algernon
Edwards and played Matt Miller on FX’s American
Horror Story: Roanoke. The show was already a huge get for Hulu but with
Holland joining the cast, I’m incredibly excited for where this is going.
Holland
has no film appearances in 2017 but has two high-profile movies on his slate
for next year. One of them being Ava DuVernay’s sophomore feature, A Wrinkle in Time and the other being
Steve McQueen’s Widows that also
stars Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell and Viola Davis. Castle Rock is set to start filming later this year.
