Many
have wondered for years if Guillermo del Toro would be given a chance to finish
his comic book trilogy of Hellboy
along with Ron Perlman. A new report from THR
has now confirmed though that Hellboy
comics creator Mike Mingola has announced that a reboot is in the works and
David Harbour, best known for his role in Stranger
Things will play the lead role. The report also notes that Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones) will
direct the movie which will be an R-rated take on the comic book character.
Hellboy was brought to screens first in del
Toro’s 2004 live-action flick that didn’t do as well at the box-office. The
movie gained second life on huge home video sales which managed to warrant a
sequel titled Hellboy: The Golden Army
which also didn’t do as well as the studio hoped. Del Toro then battled with
the studio for years for a third movie but the wish to make that led to him
asking for $200 million, which was outlandish so they moved on to the new take
with Marshall.
Harbour
has been on the rise since his unforgettable turn as Jim Hopper on Stranger Things and had his hat in the
ring for another comic book role recently as he was in the running for Cable in
Deadpool 2 before Josh Brolin scooped
it up. I’m a huge fan of his and hope that this high-profile role can help get
this guy in more of the spotlight as he’s been mostly a supporting player in a
multitude of films such as Black Mass,
Suicide Squad and Revolutionary Road
just to name a few.

Toro and Perlman’s take on the character? Comment below and let us know your
