Since
his last film, Spotlight won Best Picture,
Tom McCarthy has had an interesting go in Hollywood. After helming a YA series
for Netflix, he is doing work with Disney, as the Tracking
Board reports that McCarthy will rewrite Christopher Robin, the live-action movie based on the human character
from the Winnie the Pooh series.
Christopher Robin will follow the
titular character as an older, work-stricken adult who has little time for his
family but when his old friend Pooh re-enters his life, he discovers that he
must fix his family troubles and help his childhood friend or else he’ll lose
everything that he loves. It’s an interesting story for sure though and with an
Oscar-winning screenwriter doing a rewrite on your script, it’s in good hands.
The source also reports that Disney is looking for an a-list talent in the
realm of Benedict Cumberbatch (he would actually be perfect) to anchor an
emotional and heartwarming story.
McCarthy
next project is a Netflix series titled, 13
Reasons Why and it’s based on a popular YA novel. The newest trailer was
just released on Wednesday and the show is available to stream starting March
31st.
