After
earlier reports surfaced big names like Will Smith and Tom Hanks for the
live-action Dumbo movie, it seems
that a familiar face might be reuniting with Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands, Batman). According to Deadline,
Eva Green is being eyed by Disney to play one of the three main adult roles in
the film that is getting closer to its production start date.
The
latest in Disney’s foray into live-action remakes or reimagining’s as they call
them will be based on the original version of Dumbo that focused on a lovable circus elephant who was mocked for
his large ears but discovers he can use them as wings to fly. In the original
film, Dumbo didn’t utter a single word unlike all the animal characters within The Jungle Book so it will be
interesting to see if they do the same with this movie. The script is to be
written by Ehren Kruger (Transformers: Revenge
of the Fallen, The Brothers Grimm) and will mark the third film that Green
will star in for Burton. She previously featured in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Dark Shadows both directed by Burton.
Green
was highly coveted after her star making performance on the Showtime series, Penny Dreadful. Since then, the French
actress starred in Miss Peregrine and
is next set to appear in Euphoria, a
drama co-starring Alicia Vikander. How do you feel about Eva Green appearing in
Dumbo? Comment below and let us know!
