Monster movies have been building up some massive star power for their casts with Kong: Skull Island being a perfect example. Now, Godzilla’s sequel is looking to build some more credibility with their cast as well. According to Slash Film, O’Shea Jackson Jr. has joined Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is the sequel to 2014’s Godzilla that starred Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe and Bryan Cranston that was directed by Rogue One helmer, Gareth Edwards. Watanabe is the only cast member that is returning for the sequel but the production is quickly coming together with horror director Michael Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus) taking the reigns with Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga and Stranger Things star, Millie Bobby Brown starring with Jackson joining. There are no details yet who Jackson will play but he joins his Straight Outta Compton cohorts Jason Mitchell and Corey Hawkins who are already in Legendary’s monster universe and starred in Kong: Skull Island.

Jackson recently starred in Ingrid Goes West, an indie that debuted at Sundance and was praised for his performance. He’s also set to star in Den of Thieves alongside Gerard Butler and has a project in development based on the riots after the Rodney King verdict in which he’d star with his father, Ice Cube. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is set to be released on March 22nd, 2019.
