An interesting trio of actors are coming together to work with an indie darling director as The Playlist reports that Steve Carell, Amy Schumer and Nicole Kidman have signed on to She Came to Me. The comedy will be directed by Rebecca Miller (The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, Maggie’s Plan) and will be released sometime in 2018.

She Came to Me will weave together different love stories and plays against the backdrop of opera and tugboats. The incredibly comedic and weird premise seems like perfect material for Carell and Schumer but is a bit suspicious for Kidman to join. No doubt though that all three are massive talents in their own right and Miller should provide quirky direction for a movie that seems pretty “out there”.

Schumer recently dropped out of Barbie so she could take part in this movie. She’ll be seen next on screen in Jonathan Levine’s Snatched alongside Goldie Hawn and then will dabble in dramatic territory with Thank You for Your Service with Haley Bennett and Miles Teller. Carell has a bunch of big time projects this year including his return to voice Gru in Despicable Me 3. He also stars in the sports comedy, Battle of the Sexes with recent Oscar winner, Emma Stone and will star in Richard Linklater’s follow-up to The Last Detail, titled Last Flag Flying alongside Bryan Cranston and Laurence Fishburne. Kidman currently stars on HBO’s Big Little Lies and will star in Sofia Coppola’s remake of The Beguiled and Yorgos Lanthimos’ next flick, The Killing of a Sacred Deer later this year.
