Just
a few days after Ryan Murphy announced the development of another series for FX
titled, Pose, it seems he has found
his Donatella Versace for Season 3 of American
Crime Story. According to The
Playlist, Penelope Cruz will star as the wife of the legendary fashion
designer Gianni Versace who will be played by Edgar Ramirez.
Versace: American Crime Story will
revolve around the murder of Gianni on the steps of his Miami mansion and also
follow his killer, Andrew Phillip Cunanan, who murdered at least five people
during a three-month stretch in 1997. Darren Criss is set to play Cunanan. The
cast is shaping up just as Season 3 is undergoing production at the same time
as Season 2 which will revolve around Hurricane Katrina and stars Annette
Bening and Matthew Broderick. Cruz is a great talent and a terrific addition to
the cast but we’ll have to wait a bit before seeing the series as it will
premiere towards the end of 2018.
Cruz will
appear next in Kenneth Branagh’s remake of Murder
on the Orient Express with an amazing ensemble featuring Johnny Depp, Josh
Gad, Daisy Ridley and Michelle Pfeiffer. She’ll also star alongside her
husband, Javier Bardem in Escobar as
a journalist who strikes up a romantic affair with the drug lord, Pablo
Escobar.
