Well
I can’t say that this is much of a surprise. According to The
Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is in early development on rebooting the
incredible action series, The Matrix.
Keanu Reeves played the leading man in the original series and now the studio
is looking to bring in Michael B. Jordan in as the new lead.
The
big piece of news that could potentially be a barrier in the talks are that it
doesn’t seem that the Wachowski siblings are involved in the reboot at all.
They’re currently focused on their Netflix series, Sense8 and have what has been called as “a strained relationship”
with one of the biggest creative forces behind the original trilogy in Joel
Silver, one of the producers. Silver wants back in on the franchise but the
studio first wants the blessing of the Wachowskis before moving ahead on the reboot.
In terms
of Jordan being the new star of the franchise, I think he’d be terrific in the
lead. Jordan hasn’t appeared in a film since his incredible turn as Adonis
Johnson in Creed (one of my favorite
films of 2015), but he will be appearing next in the MCU as the villain Erik
Killmonger in Black Panther. What do
you guys think about the news of The
Matrix being rebooted? How do you feel as Michael B. Jordan possibly being
the lead? Please comment below and give us your thoughts!
