With all the hype surrounding the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery, many have wondered who will play the Captain of the ship, well now we have our answer. According to Collider, Jason Isaacs has been cast as Captain Lorca, the Captain of the Starship Discover in the upcoming CBS TV series. Isaacs is following former captains in the show’s history such as William Shatner, Patrick Stewart and Kate Mulgrew.

Unlike many past iterations of Star Trek, the captain will not be the main protagonist of the program, rather Sonequa Martin-Green of The Walking Dead will be the lead as the USS Discovery’s lieutenant commander Rainsford. Isaacs has done television work before even as recently as in the new Netflix series, The OA. He’s also had roles in films such as The Patriot, Black Hawk Down and portraying Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise.

Isaacs was seen recently seen in Gore Verbinski’s A Cure for Wellness and will be seen next in London Fields along with Amber Heard and Jim Sturgess. Production has already begun on the show that will be the first show that will be a part of CBS’s streaming-only service titled CBS All Access with the series being available solely online after the pilot debuts on broadcast television. Star Trek: Discovery is scheduled to drop in the early Fall and also stars Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, James Frain, Terry Serpico, Maulik Pancholy, Michelle Yeoh and Shazad Latif.
