Bong
Joon-Ho directed one of the most underrated sci-fi movies in years with 2013’s Snowpiercer and his long-awaited
follow-up is hitting the streaming service, Netflix in 2017. The film, Okja, made my most anticipated list of
2017 and today, Netflix released the first teaser for the film.
Okja follows a young girl named Mija who
lives deep in the words in South Korea and tries to prevent a powerful corporation
from taking her best friend who happens to be a massive but shy monster named
Okja. The trailer reveals Tilda Swinton’s character who seems to be the brains
behind the creation of this beast, who we also get a glimpse of. Though the
trailer runs under a minute in length, it tells so much of the three central
characters in the movie and has me even more excited than I was before. The set
photos have shown Jake Gyllenhaal as a wacky sort of character too so I’m
hoping to get a look at the rest of the cast soon.
Check
out the teaser trailer below for Okja!
The film stars Swinton, Gyllenhaal, Lily Collins, Paul Dano, Steven Yeun and
Ahn Seo-hyun as Mija. Okja will be
released on Netflix and in limited theaters on June 28th.
