With Zack Snyder focusing on Justice League and the DCEU getting a bevy of new filmmakers to get behind the lens, this story doesn’t seem too shocking. According to Collider, Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, Kingsman: The Secret Service) is in early discussions to direct the sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel.

This report also states that if for some reason Vaughn doesn’t want to direct Man of Steel 2, the studio would want him to direct another superhero movie for them. Vaughn is one of the most experienced directors in terms of comic book adaptations as he was responsible for the successful reboot of the X-Men universe for Fox after directing X-Men: First Class. He also helmed two R-rated comic book films in Kick-Ass and Kingsman: The Secret Service, two of the most underrated in the comic book movie genre. If this happens and Vaughn jumps on to helm Man of Steel 2, it will leap to my most anticipated movie for the DCEU. He’s a worthy and talented director who can be lighten up the cinematic universe and start to swing things in the right direction.

Vaughn is busy doing post-production on Kingsman: The Golden Circle, the follow-up to his last film that happens to be one of the best spy films ever. Vaughn is passionate about the Superman material as well as he was in talks to write and direct before Snyder did so we’ll keep you updated on any news surrounding this film and Vaughn’s involvement.
