We reported a couple of months ago that Matthew Weiner, the creator of the monumental AMC series Mad Men had a new project in the works with Amazon, now, THR has the details of the follow-up show. The show, titled The Romanoffs, will be an anthology series and will film all around the world.

Weiner explained that every single episode in the eight-episode series will have a completely different cast, story and location. The root of the show that holds all the episodes together is the fact that all of the stories will involve characters who believe that they’re descendants of the Romanov family, last imperial dynasty in Russia. It sure does sound like an intriguing project for Weiner who later goes on to tell that the budget for all eight episodes is $50 million. The anthology format has continued to be a formula for success in television with FX being a prime example with their series Fargo, American Horror Story and American Crime Story.

Weiner also said within the interview that he “wouldn’t rule out” reuniting with Mad Men stars for the The Romanoffs, so here’s hoping we see Jon Hamm reunite with the showrunner who also will direct four of the eight episodes. How do you guys feel about Weiner’s next project? Do you think it can be better than Mad Men? Comment below and let us know
