With
Netflix becoming a global phenomenon, it’s not so much a surprise that they’re
starting to produce bigger budgeted feature films for their streaming service.
One of the most anticipated projects that they’ve been working on is the American
live-action movie based on the Japanese manga, Death Note. Netflix has released the first teaser this week and we
have it right here for you.
Death Note follows a high school student
who comes across a supernatural notebook that has the power to kill anyone
whose name is written within it. Adam Wingard (The Guest, You’re Next) is helming the film and with a solid
horror/thriller background, it seems he was the right guy to adapt this lore
for American audiences. One who perhaps might not be the right choice to be
involved is Nat Wolff who will play the lead. I just can’t take him that
seriously in a film this dark but the rest of the casting seems great with
Keith Stanfield, whose best known for Atlanta
and even more recently, Get Out
playing L and the always magnificent Willem Dafoe voicing the “Death God” Ryuk.
Check
out the teaser below for Netflix’s Death
Note! The Netflix original film hits the streaming giant on August 25th.
