It
seems that Jared Leto might be making acting more of his primary job instead of
being the front man for his rock group, 30 Seconds to Mars. With him recently
announcing his directorial debut, as well as having roles in tentpoles like Blade Runner 2049 and playing The Joker
in the DCEU. Now, he could be joining another franchise for Disney as THR
reports that the Oscar-winning actor is being eyed to lead yet another Tron reboot.
The
movie is in very early developmental stages but Leto would obviously be a huge
get for Disney as Garrett Hedlund led the last franchise reboot in 2010. No
director or writer has been attached as of yet but Justin Springer, who
co-produced Tron: Legacy will produce
the film. The original adventure simply titled, Tron was released in 1982 and starred Jeff Bridges. The film was
set in a revolutionary world inside a computer program and cyberspace called,
the Grid. Tron: Legacy made $400
million worldwide which was enough that Disney had thought it could warrant a
sequel but after a series of shutdowns and scheduling issues, the movie was
never made. This version however would not be a direct sequel but will be based
around some of the aspects of the Tron 3
script. Leto would play a character names Ares who was a key player in that
same script.
Leto
was seen last in the 2016 film, Suicide
Squad as The Joker. This year he has a role in Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049 and stars in the crime
drama, The Outsider. He’s also
attached to direct 77, a crime
thriller from Paramount and play Andy Warhol in a biopic titled, Warhol.
