'True Detective' Season 3 back on track, David Milch to help write

            HBO hit a goldmine with the start of True Detective. The anthology crime series was a massive success with stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson headlining the first season. The second season starring Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch was a mess but there is some optimism for the third season which now has a TV veteran coming in to help the show. According to Entertainment Weekly, David Milch (Deadwood, NYPD Blue) will produce and write Season 3 of True Detective teaming up with creator, Nic Pizzolatto.

            In Season 1, Pizzolatto wrote the episodes but worked closely with Cary Fukunaga (Beasts of No Nation, Jane Eyre) who also directed all of the episodes. Pizzolato again wrote all of the episodes for Season 2 but a revolving door of directors emerged and it cost the show as it didn’t have the fluidity that Season 1 had. With another collaboration ahead for Season 3, I have faith that the show could get back in line with the brilliance of Season 1. Milch won’t be acting as showrunner, but no showrunner has been declared as of yet.

            With Milch’s background not only in crime dramas but also with a relationship with HBO previously on Deadwood and Luck, he seems like a perfect fit to help bring True Detective back to prominence. Now we just wait and see who they decide to bring together for the
