hit a goldmine with the start of True
Detective. The anthology crime series was a massive success with stars
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson headlining the first season. The second
season starring Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch
was a mess but there is some optimism for the third season which now has a TV
veteran coming in to help the show. According to Entertainment
Weekly, David Milch (Deadwood, NYPD
Blue) will produce and write Season 3 of True Detective teaming up with creator, Nic Pizzolatto.
In
Season 1, Pizzolatto wrote the episodes but worked closely with Cary Fukunaga (Beasts of No Nation, Jane Eyre) who also
directed all of the episodes. Pizzolato again wrote all of the episodes for
Season 2 but a revolving door of directors emerged and it cost the show as it
didn’t have the fluidity that Season 1 had. With another collaboration ahead
for Season 3, I have faith that the show could get back in line with the
brilliance of Season 1. Milch won’t be acting as showrunner, but no showrunner
has been declared as of yet.
